Our Service history
In June 2006, Telford & Wrekin Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) successfully won a contract to deliver the Young Carers Service in the Telford area.
First located at Leegomery Community Centre, and then in Lightmoor for over 5 years, we are now based within the CVS offices at The Glebe Centre, Wellington, operating under a joint contract with our Adult Carers Centre colleagues, ensuring a smooth transition between Young and Adult carers provision.
We continue to build relationships with all the statutory and voluntary agencies, who refer a growing number of children and young people to us for support. We also have a considerable number of self-referrals from families who become aware of what we do. We are to date supporting over 450 young carers.
We carry on raising the profile of what young carers do and hope that by continuing to receive generous funding from private and public individuals and organisations we can extend support and respite in Telford, year on year.
