Why we need your help:

The success of local engagement is based on developing good relationships in the local community – whether it’s with a school, club or council or with an influential leader in the community such as a mayor. 

With your enthusiasm and drive, you will work alongside your local Community Engagement Manager to identify potential opportunities, look to open up new avenues of support and develop beneficial partnerships through which we can promote our recruitment activities.

What we need you to do:

Research key individuals and organisations according to the priorities of the local community engagement team.

Initiate approaches to target audiences.

Assist with applications for support.

Keep your local community engagement team informed of approaches and outcomes.

Liaise with staff and other volunteers to ensure interest generated is followed up appropriately.

Update records on the RABC database.

What we ask of you:

To follow RABC’s policies and procedures.

To complete documentation relating to the role.

To provide the appropriate driver documentation if you choose to drive whilst volunteering.

Key Tasks:

To judge and assess 3 entries – by reading entry forms and in-person visits.

Judge village entries based on a variety of things including community spirit, green spaces and environment, cleanliness, and community spaces such as playgrounds, village halls etc by walking around.

Familiarise yourself with guidelines, judging criteria and scoring system.

Complete online score sheets - assign points based on criteria.

Record observations to justify scores, take photos and provide feedback.

Compare notes with other judges in your team and agree on final scores.

Offer constructive comments for improvement that can be included in feedback reports.

Attend training sessions, debriefings and other relevant judging meetings.

Opportunity to attend events to promote the awards, when required.

Undertake all duties in line with Community Foundation for Staffordshire & Staffordshire’s organisational policies, particularly those on Equal Opportunities and Diversity, Health and Safety and Confidentiality.

Ability to travel independently to judging locations (car sharing with other volunteers may be possible).  Benefits:

Travel expenses.

Volunteer Judge Briefing will take place in November/December up to 1.5 hours venue TBC.

Judging takes place in May - July – mixture of online / in-person visits

Volunteers will carry out their duties on mutually agreed days and times.

Judging sessions may take place during weekdays and at weekends, at different locations across the county but we will try keep traveling close to where judges live (but will never judge their own).

Read Easy Telford and Shropshire East is affiliated to Read Easy UK, a national charity that helps adults learn to read and which has nearly 60 groups across England.

Read Easy Telford & Wrekin was established in 2019 and continues to grow to be a highly impactful local group with an increasing number of Reading Pairs (Reading Coach and Reader).

It is run by a hard-working, dedicated group of team members, all of whom are also volunteers.
The group is now seeking a new Volunteer Recruiter. 

Role:

To manage the recruitment process of all volunteers for the group, and interview volunteers with the coordinator or team leader.

What do you need to have?

Can you make a contribution to your community by supporting children who have been in trouble with the police? We need volunteers to support and offer guidance to children aged 10 -17 years to help them reach their full potential and direct them away from criminal activity.

Volunteers may want to do something useful in the community and are interested in the welfare of children; they are not paid and come from a variety of backgrounds and situations.

This is an exciting opportunity to serve the community. Training and support is provided, and volunteers get to expand their interests, develop knowledge and new skills and gain experience of working with children. Being a volunteer is a challenging yet rewarding role. It makes no difference where you come from or what you do, as long as you are over 18 years old and willing to make a difference in your community. A community panel member or mentor can be "someone who helps others to achieve their potential".

The children are between the ages of 10-17, and are currently working with the Youth Justice Service. Sometimes there are high concerns for their safety and wellbeing and the safety and wellbeing of others. A Community Panel member is a trained volunteer who helps to build a relationship between the child and can be a supportive adult that the child can rely on. Mentoring is also an opportunity to explore. This is more than befriending, as it may also involve coaching, encouragement, explaining, listening and guiding the child to support them to achieve positive goals.
