Volunteer Telford

Ramblers Wellbeing Walks, Telford and Wrekin currently run 17 walks across 11 different locations in Telford, most are weekly, with one running twice a month and 3 just once a month.

These walks are supported by 26 active leaders. Unlike many Ramblers Wellbeing Walks schemes, this is run by a purely volunteer group.  

The aims of the scheme are to provide free, friendly, dependable walks that only need good footwear. The walks are graded at 3 levels, none lasting longer than 90 mins.

The scheme is now looking for Walk Leaders:

Although the scheme is running successfully, recruiting more walk leaders would decrease the pressure on current leaders and give more flexibility.  Map reading and compass skills not required!

Main duties:

Leading a particular walk(s) on a schedule to be agreed.

Time Commitment:

Up to 3 hours weekly, at agreed times and venues

Minimum commitment:  1 hour on a regular basis a month.  

Location:

Various locations across Telford.

What is a Child Contact Centre? It is a friendly, safe and neutral environment where children can meet a parent or other family members they might not otherwise see. Shropshire Child Contact Centres is a registered charity.

Shropshire Child Contact Centres – SCCC – run three Supported Child Contact Centres in Shropshire, and are Accredited Members of the National Association of Child Contact Centres. 

SCCC members running the centres are trained volunteers. They are selected by interview, must give references and are DBS checked. Members operate within the SCCC code of practice at every centre.
We are looking for volunteers who can support the contact between child and family member.

The Telford (Wrekin) Contact Centre runs on a Saturday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm from Wellington Methodist Church, New Street, Wellington.

East Shropshire Talking Newspaper For The Blind (ESTN) is based in Telford and provides a FREE weekly USB memory stick of local news and features including items from the local press and other publications, such as Shropshire Magazine and Info sound, alongside items produced in-house by the ESTN team; covering a wide range of subjects and matters of interest.

We are staffed entirely by volunteers, and operate solely via voluntary donations from both individuals and organisations, for example Local Councils and Social organisations. We receive no government or private funding as a matter of course.

We are looking for Volunteer Copying Co-Ordinator.

Role:

Making arrangements for the required number of Copying volunteers to attend each Thursday morning, via Production and Distribution of a Roster

Arranging/Providing any necessary resources, training, familiarisation, and guidance for the Copying team.

Providing a focal point for the Copying team and dealing with any concerns or questions they may have.

Providing remedial action (where possible) and Keeping Statistics on USB Memory Sticks which have failed the Copy Process

Representing the Copying Team on the ESTN Committee.

Thursday Mornings 8.30am - 10.00am

One Evening Meeting (Day of the Week varies). At least four times per year, from approximately:

7.00pm - 9.30pm.
