Volunteer Telford

My Sighted Guide is a service we offer that allows volunteers to become sighted guides. You will undergo training and learn to safely guide someone with sight loss, navigating environments and building self-confidence and increasing social interaction; whilst maintaining dignity and promoting independence.

What does sighted guiding involve? 

- Provide sighted guide assistance on a regular basis to people living with sight loss – you will be matched with a suitable partner.

- Agree on when and where you will provide the sighted guide, as part of a mutually agreed activity plan.

- You must undertake all elements of My Sighted Guide training (approximately two days).

- Always maintain professional boundaries and adhere to safeguarding procedures.

- Approx.3 hours per week but variable per needs of individual. 

Volunteers needed to help to run the Parent and Toddler Group which runs on a Friday morning 10-11.30am (volunteers would need to be there 9.30-12pm)

UMT TRUSTEE - Each Sea Cadet unit is an independent charity in its own right which must fundraise for its running costs while the parent charity of MSSC (Marine Society & Sea Cadets) funds the charitable infrastructure and provides national facilities. Our biggest supporter is the Royal Navy whose customs and traditions are at the heart of what we do.

Sea Cadet units are managed and run by committed volunteers. The unit management team (UMT) are volunteers and act as the unit’s trustees, headed up by unit chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary and treasurer. The UMT is responsible for the running of the unit at a strategic and management level.

Each Sea Cadet unit must comply with all policies and procedures issued for the governance of Sea Cadets by, or on behalf of, the MSSC Council and the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The MOD underwrites the Sea Cadet training liabilit.

The Friends of group are all about promoting, conserving and protecting Rough Park as a Local Nature Reserve.Rough Park is a wildlife corridor linking Madeley Court pitmound with the Ironbridge  Gorge wildlife area's running adjacent to Woodside. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help to get involved with  casual ongoing monitoring of the site and reporting of any problems to appropriate sources along with some basic practical hands on work where needed such as litter picking/scrub clearance & pathway encroachment plus much more.
