Opportunity Description
The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) is the Drowning Prevention Charity and the UK’s leading provider of water safety and drowning prevention education. We rely on local groups of volunteers to help us deliver our ambitions in their areas, and the Shropshire Branch is looking to develop it's ability to deliver these messages.
We are seeking individuals who are keen to learn CPR, choking and drowning prevention skills, and then be able to share these with others in informal settings. We will provide all the training needed to fulfil the role, allowing you to help save lives. All resources will be provided. Whilst you will be trained and developed locally, and be part of a team in your area, you will also be part of a larger organisation, and learn about national activties and campagns which you may wish to get involved with.
You will learn how to demonstrate basic CPR skills, and ways to deal with choking and drowning incidents to save a life. You will also be able to provide water safety information to the public in fun and engaging ways.
You will be part of a team of instructors in the Telford and Wrekin area.
The knowledge that you are giving people the skills to save a life. You will also gain the skills to perform CPR yourself. You will be part of a local team, so will meet new people and make friends. You will also be part of a wider society that has ambitions of seeing a world where no on loses their life to drowning.
Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed to fulfil this role.
Approximately 3 hours for each event.There will be various times and dates, which will be agreed with you.
Various locations across Telford and Wrekin.
Volunteers will not be responsible for others, unless they want to have this as a development.
Requirements
You will need to be an effective communicator, well organised, and confident to meet and chat to new people.
You will receive comprehensive training and provided with the relevant resources to deliver the sessions. The initial training will be approx. 6 hours in duration to be arranged appropriately to meet your other commitments eg evenings/weekends.

Our volunteers will work as part of a team, so will have others around to support them, and to advise as needed. We intend to do group evaluations after events, so we can all learn from each other, and improve together.
One-to-ones will be offered to those who would prefer this, or for developmental opportunities.
