The Anstice Gardener Volunteer
Suitable for -
Opportunity Description
Following major redevelopment, The Anstice will be a community hub complete with café, library, meeting space and a beautiful sprung-floor ballroom. With a full programme of classes, activities and events, The Anstice hopes to once again be at the heart of the Madeley community. As a multi-functional facility, we are looking for volunteers with wide and varying knowledge, skills and experience.
The role of Gardener offers a great opportunity for those wanting to spend more time outdoors. In front of The Anstice are several raised beds which need developing and maintaining. We hope to introduce cut flowers and herbs for use in the café, but first we need to weed, tidy and plan. Sometimes you will work as part of a team, other times you will work independently.
What activities will you be involved in?
- Maintaining the raised beds including weeding, raking, dead heading and tidying
- Planting and harvesting herbs and flowers for use in the café
- Watering and feeding
- Sweeping and removing leaves
- Interacting with visitors
- Working as part of a team
What can you gain from this opportunity?
Volunteering with The Anstice can give you the opportunity to try something new, gain experience, develop skills, improve your career prospects, build confidence and meet new people.
The Anstice will provide you with an induction and any relevant training. All our volunteers have regular contact with the Community Outreach Manager, who offers support and guidance, supervision, and will provide a reference for any future roles you wish to pursue.
